A Slow but Steady Transition into Living the Life I Love

When it’s your time…. It is one thing to be unaware it is your time; it is another to recognize and live in it.

As I sit here in this hotel room in Daytona Beach, Florida, I sit full of joy, gratitude, and thanks. I am so blessed to have every individual in my life sharing in my own success both near and far. God has a way of turning things around in a way you could never have imagined. I am so blessed and grateful for every single person who has supported, helped and contributed in any way to help me through my highest of times and kept me encouraged during those low times in life.

I finally can honestly say, that I feel like I have committed to making a decision and I DECIDED this life for myself. I am not living on the terms of others; instead, I am working and moving towards doing that which I feel God is drawing me to do. It’s actually much easier than I ever expected. It’s a time of my life where I feel like I am literally living a dream. I could have never imagined this life for myself. I have a boyfriend “MG” who loves me.

Who supports me?

A family who trusts my decisions while providing support in more ways than I could ever have imagined, people who love me at every turn and want to see me win. To see my dreams become my reality is what continues to drive me. As of Monday, I have landed my remote dream opportunity that will allow me to see the world from an entirely different scope. To create travel experiences that I could have never dreamed of! I am now beginning to prepare for this life transition to a more remote lifestyle from that of “traditional”. I am very excited about what this will look like for me; to be able to live and take part in this new life.

Let’s say I am seeing now this will take a few months to do. I plan to financially prepare by getting things paid off for the most part and set up so that I can really profit from this opportunity. I will then in the process work on getting things ready as I move into ensuring all things are in order.

It took me 10 years to get here. This ten-year mark has been a trial, to say the least. Survival of the fittest! I am so happy that I have made it. It feels like a huge accomplishment. I am so humbled and thankful for my experience. May this new season and chapter of my life bring much success and new experiences. As I prepare for my new opportunity and transitioning my life into one of world exploration, I do so with much excitement and happiness.

I am learning to trust less what my eyes can see and more of that which I can’t. Somehow internally I know things will work out as they should. It’s a matter of belief. 2018 has been that year for me to say the least. I am happy about my current relationship and mending of broken ones working through hardships and creation of new experiences beyond those I ever thought would be possible. I am proud of me. As life continues I work with excitement – in a new way. I am stretching myself personally and professionally, daily.

There’s nothing that’s impossible! So, as I conclude this entry, for the time being, challenge yourselves to go beyond which you know. Push yourself to think and believe beyond that you see before you.

Life now begins…

Finally Getting out of my Comfort Zone

Coming into 2018, I somehow knew that it would be the year that my life would change for the better. There have been many setbacks and life-altering experiences yet it wasn’t until I really started to choose my own way, that my life started to manifest the desired changes for myself and my life that I wanted.

Living in a System I did not Belong

For so long I was living in a system I didn’t belong, working jobs I could never see myself staying on, and “tolerating” things I just simply did not want, or things that people wanted for me while wanting something entirely different for myself. So you are maybe wondering what changed and what have I done to entirely break the cycle, and change the course of my life?

Questions I had to ask myself

Simply put, I decided that the things that I wanted for myself and my life mattered. I began to ask myself the questions  like, “What is it that I want? And what my best life looks like for me.” I wanted something unique, unconventional and was determined to make changes even if it meant me walking away from a job, etc…

Living on YOU Terms!

What I will tell you is … THATS LIFE! Defining and painting this beautiful canvas of your own life down to your day to day. I mean for me is euphoric… since moving from living life in “Corporate America” and society’s terms, I’ve been able to change my own life to mirror that which I want for myself. I found making sound decisions, though many times understanding decisions won’t come with the support you may feel you want, it’s important that you do what’s truly best for Y-O-U!

When I decided to move and act on my own terms through faith, I begin to experience rapid change in my life. Becoming comfortable being uncomfortable really helps too. But if I am transparent, this isn’t always easy. Begin to value and validate yourself and the things that you want for YOU simply is life-altering. You only live ONE life so you want to ensure it’s the best one right?

People will try to tell you what you need or should do. Though they mean well, you are essentially the creator of your own life and terms you live by. What’s the difference between you and me you may ask? Decision. Deciding to make a change even without a fully worked out plan… Let’s be honest, no plan is ever one set in stone. You must be willing to do and try things that others may have never done before.

Live outside the lines… I want to use this platform to challenge and encourage others to live their best lives and to live on your own terms!  Those who desire change beyond the conventional standards. Who desires to live a life entirely different from the one you are in now. I want to help you find the courage to Do things your own way…Even in the mist of being unsure. Besides, when you really take a hard look at life, and ask yourself who’s really making the rules anyway? Have you stepped out and done something completely out of your comfort zone? Perhaps you are feeling fearful of change? Share with me your story….

What I will say is that I’m not all the way where I want to be just yet, however, I feel more on track now than ever before. I wake up full of gratitude, and happy daily! (YES! This is possible!!) I choose a life of positivity, passion, forgiveness, and love. I use to think that my dreams were far too big and so far from my reality. But through the power of manifestation, prayer, and patience, I’ve been able to draw my dreams into my own reality. I am so grateful for my new path and all the new opportunities that are to come.

I will share more from time to time as to this new journey of great achievements and new opportunities continue to unfold.

Have you personally experienced having to simply step outside your comfort zone? Share your experience with us below and how had that decision changed your life.

Waxing vs. Sugaring Which one is Better?

I am particularly one who truly enjoys all things self-care. Whether that be a spa day – a day spent doing personal pampering- like hair, nails, etc… regardless of what it is, I am one that’s totally for caring for myself as a woman! So, when I heard about this new thing called “sugaring” as an alternative to traditional waxing – I just had to try it out!

Whether you prefer waxing or sugaring it’s really a personal preference. I personally wanted to take a chance and give sugaring a shot, especially after hearing how much healthier it is in comparison to waxing. Well, I will tell you, after my experience sugaring, I am forever committed to the sugaring experience! Why? You may ask, well first off being the daredevil that I am, I found that the process was a lot less painful (ok, this isn’t to say that it’s a walk in the park, but the pain doesn’t seem to last as long as a traditional wax). I went for the Brazilian sugar wax,  so during this particular experience, I found the results left me a lot smoother, a lot softer as a result than the traditional way of waxing.

Prior to going in for my sugaring, I did exfoliate the skin 2 nights before to avoid irritation. I was able to schedule my appointment online with the Organics Sugaring Center located in Bethesda, Maryland. Making things very simple.

The process hurt! I mean, if I am honest the pain is almost the same as waxing – however, if you manage to make it through the first session, the others to follow will be a cake walk. It really just depends on your pain tolerance.

I have to thank Nita, at the Organics Sugaring Center, in Bethesda, Maryland who really did a wonderful job in walking me through the sugaring process, and all her support as she guided me through. This place is amazing! Ensuring to get you in and out in no time flat!

What is Sugaring?

“Sugaring is a form of hair removal that resembles waxing but is gentler on the skin and is all-natural (only sugar, lemon juice, water, and glycerin),” explains Tummala. “It dates back to the civilizations of ancient Mesopotamia, Egypt, and Greece. Sugaring tends to hurt less than waxing because it pulls less on the skin while still effectively removing the hair. This also means that you will have a lot less irritation and redness. In addition, the weight of the denim cloth used in our salon for the sugaring gel helps reduce some of the pain.” – https://www.byrdie.com/sugaring-vs-waxing

Ingredients for Waxing vs. Sugaring

There is a difference between the substances that are used for the two processes.

  • Sugaring uses natural food-grade ingredients like sugar, lemon juice, water, and sometimes essential oils, salt and/or honey.
  • Waxes are made primarily of resins, which may be natural ingredients like beeswax, honey, and essential oils. But you’ll also find artificial fragrances, dyes, chemicals, and preservatives in most of the waxing formulas on the market today.  – https://www.liveabout.com/sugaring-versus-waxing-1717098

My 2-Week Update

So far, the results still stand! I have not experienced any ingrown hairs or regrowth as of yet. I still find that I am VERY pleased with my results!

As I continue, I am creating and exploring all things women. I think it is important that every woman has some degree of a self-care routine. That doesn’t necessarily mean you must go broke doing so either. There are a few things that you can do that costs little to nothing

My Current Self-Care Regimen Includes:

Weekly Charcoal Mask – I love this and probably one of my favs on this list! I love a charcoal mask – a great way to unwind after a long day.

Bath and Body Scrub –  Also a great way to end a long day, simply soak in a warm bath (adding a bubble bath of your choice) following your soak, doing a body scrub. This I tell you feels AMAZING!

Reading a Book – I love to read! I enjoy reading mostly early in the mornings before I begin my day!

What ways do you decide to wine down?? What do you consider to be essential to your own self-care routine? Please share with us below!

Three Simple Ways to Get Your $h^t Together

Some people are just born organized – they make lists and set goals and targets and timelines and as far as you’re concerned, ain’t nobody got time for that. But deep inside your soul, you know that’s a lie, and you could actually benefit from a list or goal or two, right?

Well, whether organization is one of your innate abilities or a habit you have to train yourself into developing, the list of benefits in inexhaustible. So, as you go on the journey to your Bold Boss Life, I’d recommend you take this one up as something to learn, do and live. What’s even better…it’s not hard at all. Here are a few quick things you can do is start getting your $h^t together.

Write it down

Do you ever go to a restaurant and order twenty million things but the waiter with the forgetful look on his face doesn’t even have a notepad and reassures you three times that he’s got it? Yes, don’t be that person. If it needs to get done, write it down you can start with our FREE downloadable planner. If it needs to be remembered, write it down. Jot it down on a post-it, a napkin, a notepad or a pretty little journal you only keep because it looks like a great accessory for your outfits. Just imagine how mad you get when after repeating your order twenty million times, the waiter still comes without your entrée, the wrong dressing for your salad and Table #3’s drinks instead of your virgin daiquiri.

Just imagine if he’d just written it down?

Set timelines and targets

Along with those lists, start setting deadlines and targets for yourself. Sure, you want to lose some weight soon. But how much weight do you want to lose and by when? There’s seven days in the week, but someday isn’t one of them. And when you stand on the scale, it’ll probably never tell you that you weigh some pounds. So set SOME targets and goals and start holding yourself to it. Challenge yourself to meet your goals and celebrate when you do. Because nothing’s worth celebrating like when you set a goal for yourself and start smashing the crap out of it.

Don’t Procrastinate!

Yes, you’re so tired of seeing this one phrase everywhere. Now, get up and do something about it. Writing down your goals and setting timelines and targets will mean exactly diddly-squat if you don’t actually get up, get going and put in that work, honey. So don’t be sleeping on your dreams or kicking it outside of your goals. Once there’s something to be done, get up and do it. Later, tomorrow and probably next week are promised to no man – just today. So, let’s get going.

I know it’s not easy. I’ve been there myself, which is why I can tell you all this. I could speak at length about the disadvantages of procrastination, blah, blah, blah and bore you to death. But instead, I’ll give you a tool to empower yourself as a woman on the way to living her Bold Boss Life. Ready? Download this free planner I’ve created just for you and start getting your $h^t together.

Gold for Goals: Live That Boss Life

‘Boss’ or ‘BossBabe’ is one of the universally most misused and abused phrases today. Whether it’s on Instagram as a hashtag or a loud shout by some girl rolling in her own hype. Everybody wants to be a Boss, of course. Sadly, not many are willing to put in the work required.

The term ‘Boss’ usually comes with far more responsibility than people expect. For many, the ‘boss’ is the one that drives the flashiest car, buys the most expensive designer purses and has no qualms about dropping ten grand at the bar at the club on a Saturday night. But does that make you a boss? Or does that make you a slave to people’s expectations of you?

Let’s not ponder too long on questions that are easily answered. Instead, let’s talk about what being the boss of your own life actually means.

You probably do quite well in life. You went to school, got a degree, a job that pays the bills and so on. But are you growing? Are you constantly up skilling yourself and preparing for the next stage of your life? What if you lose your job tomorrow – would you still be able to be a ‘boss’? For some of you, the answer may be yes. But for others…

Now I’m not trying to be Negative Nancy. If you think you’re living the Boss Life, kudos to you! But here are some things to consider:

  1. A ‘Boss’ Looks at the Bigger Picture

Have you thought about where you’ll be in the next five…or ten years? Have you thought about what you’ll be doing? Better yet, have you started preparing yourself for the next stage in your life? As a boss, foresight is important but being prepared for the future is ultimately where it’s at.

At this point in your life, you need to start thinking about what’s next for you – what’s the next thing you’re going to learn, the next goal you’re going to pursue, the next personal target you’ll set for yourself. If you have goals and you’ve never written them down, they’re just wishes. Grab a pen and paper or even your laptop and start writing and typing your goals and the road map to achieving them.

  1. A Boss Always Prepares for the Next Stage of the Game

Seeing the bigger picture is super-important because if you don’t know where you’re headed, how are you going to know what your next step is? And yes, you won’t always stay on-track but you wouldn’t take a train that’s headed for Miami if your destination is New York, now would you? As a boss, after setting your goals, you have to chart your course and identify what you’ll need at each step on the way towards them.

  1. A Boss Stays Focused

One of the most inevitable things you’ll encounter on the journey towards your goals is distraction. This comes in so many forms that you’ll be tempted to slip off-course or even just fall by the wayside without even realizing it. That’s why checkpoints and accountability are important. On the way to your goals, set targets to keep yourself on track, and hold yourself accountable. If you fall of course, don’t play the blame game or start playing the victim. Be true to yourself and don’t be afraid to jump back on if you get side-tracked.

Ready to unleash your inner boss? Grab that pen, paper or laptop, print our FREE planners and write down your goals. Next, identify the things you’ll need to achieve those goals. Then, put some targets in there to hold yourself accountable. Finally, go out there and do it like a boss.

What’s up with Me?

As someone who aspires to inspire the people around me, I could sit here on a daily basis weaving you dresses from the fabric of the Emperor’s New Clothes and calling on Dearest Fairy Godmother to give you a makeover which expires in a few hours and leaves you shoe-less and bae-less at the end of the night. Neither of which, might I add, are anything to look forward to.

But Fairy Tales are not my style…I’ll leave that to Hans and the Brothers Grimm.

I’m no Cinderella, but my days are spent working and trying to build and grow a business, while my nights are tirelessly consumed with getting this blog up-and-running for my fellow Bold Boss Ladies. I’m also in the middle of working on a book, so it’s a huge balancing act for me as I have a number of projects running simultaneously.

So no, I don’t have it all ‘made’ yet and to be very honest, I’m still very much a work in progress, with progress being the ultimate keyword here.

Why is it so important?

Well, most of us are a work in progress, and that’s a big part of what this blog promises to highlight. I’m not here to ‘sexify’ success – I want to strip it down so that we can see all the hard work, challenges, balance, faith, hope and failure that lie behind the glitz and the glamour. I don’t aspire to be an inspirational speaker either, who paints dreams of positivity and success only. I aim to help you to see the big picture, and find out exactly where you fit into it.

That, I believe, can only be done by sharing my own journey towards self-discovery, acceptance and understanding with you. That’s also why this blog is a no-judgement zone…a safe community to share your thoughts, desires, fears and good news without any fears. So often we don’t realize the importance of friendship and networking and we try to do everything ourselves.

That’s something even I’ve been guilty of, admittedly. But it wasn’t until I opened up and welcomed help from others around me that I was able to see growth in my own life. Which brings me to another big issue I had. I used to be very impatient with myself – and if I’m honest, I’m still getting used to accepting that everything doesn’t happen overnight.

Point is, I’ve seen and learnt a lot and I’m ready to share. This could have been a journal I write and stick it in my desk drawer, never to be seen by another soul. But I can’t imagine how unfulfilling that would be, so I’ve chosen this forum to express myself and commune with like-minded souls.

This isn’t ‘just’ a series of posts either. I want to be here with you in all your moments, helping to celebrate the wins and soften the setbacks.

Need to talk? Feel free to leave a comment, shoot me an email or just say ‘hey’ – I want to hear from you.

When Life Doesn’t Go the Way You’ve Planned…

Ever felt like you’ve hit a rut in life? Or perhaps, you’ve lived yourself into a dead end and don’t know which way to go from there…

Fret not, the feeling is far less uncommon than you might think. So many people get up and wonder why life is going as planned, while others simply feel like they’ve run out of options and don’t know what to do next.

What’s worse, you can’t figure out why the career you so diligently chose and prepared for in high school is not something you want to do anymore, although you were sure back then that being a professional dancer or high-powered attorney was going to fulfill you for the rest of your life.

You’ll be happy to know, however, that that’s just another one of life’s stages. It’s as inevitable as death and taxes. Fortunately, there are some things you can do to prepare for or prevent these ruts in your life.

Prepare for change

First things first, you need to understand that life is no Sweet Valley High. Anyone who told you that is a Pretty Little Liar and you probably need to just grow up. Here’s the thing, life changes faster than you can say WTH…so you have to constantly be preparing for change. That’s why the career you thought you would have till death isn’t working out ten years later and you can’t compete with the little yuppies coming in with their IT Degrees and brash behavior.

Get over it! You have to ensure that you never stop learning and getting yourself ready for the next stage of your career. Go back to school, take some courses, watch YouTube and learn something new, ask one of those yuppies how they do that…but never stop preparing for the next level. You’re probably not a fortune teller – and the only crystal ball you’ve ever owned is those hand-me-down earrings from your great grandmother. So stop trying to figure out the whole future all at once. Just make sure you’re ready to go with the times.

Quit procrastinating

This is probably one of the dirtiest ‘p’ words ever; and the sad thing is, we all fall victim to it sometimes. ‘I’m gonna start the gym next week’ or ‘I’m going back to college someday’ or ‘I’m gonna apply for that job next year.’

What ever happened to ‘right now’, ‘today’, ‘this very minute’?

Wait, before you say it – ‘I don’t have the money right now’, ‘I don’t have the time right now’ or one of my personal favorites, ‘I’m just not ready yet’. I know, I’ve heard them all before, even from myself. And you know what, it’s a load of something negative.

There are courses online – sign up today. Don’t wait for next week, get up an hour earlier and get to the gym before work today. Get ready, or life’s going to pass you by.

Be ready

You’ll probably never be part of the lucky (non-existent) minority whose lives turn out to be exactly as they pictured since they were a child. Since that’s the case, you have to be ready for the curve balls life throws at you – it’s one heck of a pitcher. So, question yourself, up skill, never stop learning and don’t be afraid to try new things. You’re not out of luck, skill or opportunity until you kick the bucket. So, until then…grab life by the horns and live your best one.

Why write this blog?

AmberChriste.com started out of a need to start chronicling my life’s journey a bit better.

I’ve always been a great fan of journaling – I’ve done this often, sometimes to the point where if I missed a few days, I started feeling really lost. You might then ask why I’m writing on the internet then instead of inside a pretty little journal with some cookie-cutter motivational phrase on each page.

I’ll tell you why—I wanted more out of life than just selfishly writing my thoughts and lessons into a book no one might ever read. To me, it started to feel like some of my stories would do someone else some good if I shared them in a space with other people like me. I’ve lived a heck of a life so far and I’ll tell you this; keeping all these stories to myself would just be like planting a seed in a velvet-covered jewelry box and expecting to grow a ten-acre botanical garden.

Don’t get me wrong…journaling is great for self-development and stress relief. But with blogging, I can share with real people who live in the real world, like me. We can exchange our life’s learnings and grow together, challenge each other to be better and support each other in times of need.

In addition to being a unique way to document my life, thought and personal journey, it’s a huge creative outlet for me. Sometimes, I have so many ideas and no way to filter them or make use of them and that’s where blogging comes in handy. Plus, when you can get instantaneous feedback from you, that just makes blogging all the more worthwhile.

So, I’m very happy for this opportunity to connect and share with you in this way. I want us to grow together—life’s journey can be very challenging as a human being—especially if you have to do it alone. It’s always better when you have a support system that you can lean on, vent to, and get advice when you need it.

So please join Team AC, and let’s help each other to build and start living the lives we love…and deserve! Don’t forget to subscribe so that you can always be the first to know about new posts on AmberChriste.com.
